Brief overview of the history of Land Rover...

The Land Rover company introduced its first model shortly after World War II in 1948.

The initial model showcased at the Amsterdam Fair in April 1948 was known as the Series 1 Land Rover, rather than being technically referred to as the Defender. It featured a 1595cc petrol engine sourced from the P3 Rover, producing 50 horsepower. After producing the first 8,000 units the British Army placed its initial order.

By 1951, both two-wheel and four-wheel drive options were offered for Series 1 Land Rovers. In 1952, an upgraded version of the vehicle with a more powerful engine generating 52 horsepower was released. A larger version with a 1997cc capacity was also introduced for long-axle vehicles. The initial version of Series 1 Land Rovers had basic options with full or half doors and roof selections available. Interestingly, during that time, green was the only paint color readily available due to wartime restrictions.

Following Series 1 came Series 2 in 1958...
